new media art

As a new media artist, I am engaged in creating work at the intersections of technology, poetry, education, and participation. My current project is The Kimchi Poetry Machine, which is an interactive poetry machine powered by Adafruit and Arduino. The machine is my response to “bookless” libraries and a digital future without poetry and exhibited at the Electronic Literature Collection Volume 3.  Additionally, my digital projects include conceptualizing and coleading “From the Center,” a HIV/AIDS digital storytelling program for incarcerated women in the San Francisco jail. The project aims to provide digital media education for incarcerated women so that they can be storytellers of their own lives. The project was the first implementation of digital education in a North American jail/prison setting, for which I received the Chancellor’s Award from UC Berkeley.
